WEEK SEVEN – COMICS DAY

So this week we had COMICS DAY!!! Which was awesome. I spent far too much money because I felt sorry for all the creators and next year it might be me, so I bought a LOT of comics. My favourite one so far is Dungeon Fun, which is so silly and fun that I had to stop myself reading it so that I would have some thing to look forward to. The artwork is quite (whisper it) Pendleton Ward esque, and I’m sure artists hate being asked ‘it’s sort of like Adventure Time, isn’t it?’ as much I as used to hate being told my stuff looked like.
Other highlights were meeting the man himself, MR. PAT MILLS, who signed my copy of Nemesis and chatted with me for ages about Misty and Never Let Me Go (which we both dislike). He gave a very engaging talk about ‘the formula’ and girls comics that was really interesting.

Bryan Talbot and Woodrow Phoenix were there and their art is AH-MAZING. Woodrow Phoenix can hold a whole crowd captive with a silent comic book, and Talbot’s artwork is so versatile! He provided the layouts for the Sally Heathcote: Suffragette which I NEED to READ. So badly.

READ WITH ME: I’ve been super busy this week watching sitcoms. Seriously though, it’s an addiction, and it meant I couldn’t script because I knew it would sound like a sitcom. I did reread Black Canary and Barbarella because I have presentations to do. I don’t know if anyone else has read Paul Dini’s Bloodspell, but it’s a really fun Black Canary/Zatanna story and I hate Zatanna and I still enjoyed it. I neam, tahw dnik fo rewop si gniyay ffuts sdrawkcab? Emal!
