Christmas Sketches Part 1 – Fashion (TURN TO THE LEFT!)

So, here be the promised Christmas Sketches. There were A LOT, so I’m posting them in different categories. The first one is Fashion.

I guess one of the problems was that I devised looks for the characters and then had been like ‘Oh, it’ll be a world that dresses like the 1940s’ so none of the characters really felt right. Mocha was probably the most incongruous as her look was blatantly sixties, and Cheryl probably fit in the best because I’d purposely based her look on 40’s youth fashion. So, armed with a trusty book on forties fashion (Forties Fashion: From Siren Suits to the New Look by Jonathon Walford) and a book on American military dress, I started adapting and redrawing their looks.

Forties fashion is weird, ugly, but also crazy and inventive and I took all the weirdest and wildest elements and went to town. So…
